Polished concrete lives or dies on slab prep and densification. These are the products that decide the outcome.
The system
- Grind. Open the slab to your target exposure.
- Fill. Polygrout hybrid polyurea/polyurethane for pinholes, voids, and bugholes. Neutral base accepts pigment to match the slab.
- Densify. Simhard LS lithium silicate. Reacts with free lime to harden and dustproof — lithium chemistry leaves no white residue like sodium silicate does.
- Polish. Work up through your resin sequence.
- Protect. Simguard guards against stains and traffic wear while keeping the slab breathable.
Why lithium
Sodium and potassium silicates are cheaper per gallon and cost you more in labor. Lithium penetrates further, reacts cleaner, and does not leave residue you have to scrub back off. On a polished floor the densifier is not the place to save money.
