Metallic epoxy is among the highest-margin residential and retail floors in this trade. It is also the least forgiving. Here is what the system takes.
The system
- Prime. 1100SL, or MVB if the slab has any moisture history. On a metallic floor a vapor blister is a total loss — do not skip the moisture test.
- Pigment the base. Metallic Epoxy clear base carrying Metallic Pigment. Each pack is dosed for a 3 gallon mix.
- Pour and work. Spread, then move the metal with a torch, blower, or spike roller to build the marbling.
- Topcoat. Cerafin for maximum gloss and depth, or Polyaspartic HS where UV exposure is a factor.

Copper, Cobalt, Graphite, Crimson, Charcoal, Marigold, Bronze, Pearl, Black Pearl, Sapphire, Dark Emerald and more. The depth comes from combining two or three — a single color reads flat.
A word of advice
Sample before you pour. Metallic behaves differently at scale than on a test board, and clients choose from what they see.
